No Child Left Behind/ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act)
Beginning in the 1960s, the federal government passed the original ESEA to support public schools. As the act reached completion it was renewed in 2001 and is now known as No Child Left Behind. The 1100-page law outlines funding, requirements for various projects (including Title Programs), assessment standards, etc.
